How to Structure Your Song Folders
Please make sure all files are organized similar to the sample file below:

How to Label Your Song Files
Please name each WAV file accordingly to its recorded content, e.g. “Kick In”, “Bass Amp”, or “Vocal Lead”. Do not use mic models, weird codes, or other stuff as label, such as “u87-003”, “R1002930”, or “Joey’s break”. Good labelling will enhance our collaboration enormously.
How to Setup Your Export Settings
- Do not send your project as any DAW session file. WAV files only.
- Please send all files in the same sample rate/bit depth as recorded (usually 44.1/24 or 48/24).
- Make sure all edits (crossfades etc. …), and auto tuning are consolidated in the WAV files.
- Every track should be consolidated from zero until the end of the session. This is to make sure everything lines up correctly once it has been imported.
- Please ensure that all mono tracks are sent as mono WAV files. Most files will be mono (guitar DIs, individual drum mics, vocal tracks, bass tracks). The only things that are usually stereo files are drum overheads/room mics, certain effects and synth tracks, and anything that was recorded with two mics.
- Please be sure to put all songs into individual sessions. Include a MIDI file for me to import the tempos.
How to Export Your Tracks
1. Drums
Export all your recorded or with samples in DAW produced drums as single tracks so that there’s only one instrument per audio track. If the drums are in MIDI, please make a separate MIDI track for each articulation (kick, snare, tom, cymbal hit, cymbal choke, hi hat open, hi hat closed) and label it as such. Also, a drum stem bounce from the tracking studio would be very helpful just in case there is reprogramming confusion.2. Bass/Guitar
I prefer a DI signal from the bass and guitar, as well as MIDI and amps or DI signal you might have recorded. Any combinations of these are welcome. I can generate a realistic sounding bass from MIDI only, if that's all you have.3. Vocal
Please make sure your vocal tracks are not clipping and aren't already compressed. If you compressed on the way in, I will be severely limited in what I can do with the sound of your vocals. Also, please make sure that there are never more than one vocal happening at once on the same track, otherwise, I will not be able to separate the two to change the sound of them.4. Keys
If you have keys, you will need to include an audio track for each part, not just midi. This is because you could have intended for a part to sound like a synth and if I only have midi, I'll just have to guess at what sound you want.5. Effects
Print all wet effects (special guitar leads, delay throws, etc. …) as well as print dry tracks. Rename the wet effect tracks by putting a "w" before the label, such as “wLead Guitar”. I will refer to the reference track to understand the intended effect you desire if I go to mix the "dry" version from scratch.6. Demo Reference
Also, include a rough MP3 demo mixdown of the session for me to reference as I’m setting up my session. Feel free to include any songs from other bands that you want me to use as a mix reference.
How to Transfer Your Files
- Each song should be delivered in its own zip archive so I do not have to download 200 separate files :) Also, do not zip full EPs/albums, this will exceed the upload limits.
- Please use WeTransfer, GoogleDrive, or Dropbox for sending the project files.
IMPORTANT!
If the files are not sent in the way I've laid out above, there will be additional charges added to your remaining balance.
